The study tour went 2 hours north of Tel Aviv to Haifa. This turned out to be a city around a port
with a couple of cruise ships in, and a large part of the city 400 metres above
that spreading along a range of hills. This
was where the Uni was and we had 2 workshops, on loss and grief, and post
traumatic stress disorder. The views to the north were spectacular and within
the haze the hills of Lebanon 25 k’s away could just be seen.
After lunch we went halfway back down to the Bahai
gardens. These were narrow and
beautifully maintained but seemed to a few of us to be without much heart or
feeling. Maybe it was because of a feeling of tension in this place, as noted by one of the psychologists. It wasn't that long ago that many rockets were fired into Haifa from Lebanon. Unfortunately the big dome was closed.
Back to the hotel by 6.30pm
Julie:
It was a lovely sunny day with a light breeze so Julie again
set off on a bike to leisurely wind her way up the coast to a big shopping
mall. She stopped and took many photos
of the beaches (small patches of sand that have deck chairs on them) and
scenery including palm trees, but unfortunately instead of deleting one photo
she deleted them all. She rode along the
same path as yesterday, but went a bit further which just took her to another
suburb with lots of towers of apartments, and then eventually to the shopping
mall. This one was like the ones we have
in Australia so she felt more at home.
Back to the hotel for dinner in the hotel restaurant as it
is National Memorial Day Eve so everything is closed, as it will be tomorrow. Some of the group are walking some way for
the Memorial Eve celebrations, but we are taking advantage of a rare early
night.
